Mobile vs. bank notarization in MA: timing, privacy, witnesses, and travel
Not all notarizations are equal. See when mobile is worth it for important documents with deadlines, hospitals, or tight schedules.

When mobile wins
- Time-critical: real-estate closings, hospital discharges, court/immigration deadlines.
- Privacy: wills, POAs, financial forms—avoid public bank lobbies.
- Witnesses: banks rarely provide them. You may bring your own witnesses. Witnesses from Kelly need at least 4 hours notice and are not guaranteed. If he cannot bring them, he tells you at least 2 hours before the appointment and refunds the witness fee.
- Coverage: evenings, weekends, and locations across Greater Boston & Taunton.
Bank is fine for simple walk-in stamps when timing and witnesses don’t matter and the bank is willing. Some branches refuse non-customers or specific documents.
Cost vs. convenience
- Mobile: service fee plus a set travel fee for your Massachusetts town, shown in the booking form before you pay, plus any early morning, evening, Sunday or holiday premium.
- Bank: often free/low-cost but limited hours and policies vary by branch.
